Initial setup to connect from a Mac

How to prepare your Mac to make a remote access connection to a lab computer

Before you can connect your Mac with a University lab PC, there are few steps to take.

Remote Labs from a Mac - initial setup

The process to make a remote access connection to a Windows PC in a University lab is very similar for Mac and Windows computers. On a Mac, however, you must first install the Remote Desktop app if you don't already have it installed.

Installing the Remote Desktop app

  1. On your Mac, go to the Apple Menu and the App Store
  2. Search for 'Microsoft Remote Desktop 10
  3. Install Microsoft Remote Desktop 10
  4. Launch the Remote Desktop app to complete the 'first run' setup.

View Microsoft Remote Desktop 10 in the App Store

When you have launched the Remote Desktop app you are ready to connect to use Remote Labs from your Mac.
