Fundraising and donations at Hope Park

Hope Park Donations

Hope Park Counselling Centre is a donation based counselling centre. We ask you to consider a donation for your assessment appointment and for each weekly counselling session between £2 and £30. Hope Park will accept donations that are bigger or smaller. Please note that the ability to pay does not affect your access to counselling.

Donation amount and available methods of payment will be discussed with you during your assessment appointment. While we highly encourage the use of online payments where possible, we appreciate that it might not be a feasible option for all. If you would like to donate using cash, please speak to your counsellor during your first appointment. Please note that we are currently only able to take exact cash amounts.

Gift Aid

Hope Park offers clients the opportunity to make their weekly donation through Gift Aid. Within the UK, this is a system whereby a charity (Hope Park in this case under the umbrella of the University of Edinburgh) can claim a tax refund from the UK tax office (Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, HMRC) of 25p for every £1 donated. A client must be paying UK income tax in order for them to donate through Gift Aid.

If a client wishes to donate through Gift Aid, the client can complete and sign a Gift Aid declaration form at any time. For online payments, the form can be found via the online link. If you wish to pay by cash,  please speak to your counsellor or our admin team.
