Annual MSc by Research Science Retreat at Firbush Outdoor Centre

In Spring, Masters students on the Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Repair programme and the Reproductive Sciences Programme attend the annual 3-day MScR Science Retreat at Firbush, the University's superb outdoor centre on the banks of loch Tay.

During the day students present their projects and spend time on the water, in the hills  or on bikes in the highlands, and in the evenings it's time for games and socialising.

Annual CRM Science Retreat

The Centre for Regenerative Medicine organises a yearly two-day scienc

e retreat in autumn for its staff and students.

The CRM Science Retreat is part of the research training of all postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows within the centre.  As such, students on the MSc by Research in Regenerative Medicine and Tissue Repair programme will be able to join this exciting training opportunity at the start of their studies.

The retreat features short and keynote presentations by postgraduate students and junior and senior researchers at CRM. The presentations are an excellent introduction to the breath of research being carried out in the various groups at the centre.

A particular highlight of the academic sessions is the Three Minute Thesis competition, where PhD students have exactly 3 minutes to explain the what, why and how of their research project, using a single slide and plain language.

There is also plenty opportunity to network and socialise during various social elements organised by the CRM Social Committee. The CRM science retreats typically feature an afternoon of fun activities and games where groups of students and staff will be competing to win trophies.

Local Regenerative Medicine conferences

In November 2023 the programme enabled the MScR students to attended the UKRMP Regenerative Medicine Meeting 2023, which took place in the University's beautiful McEwan Hall, where they heard from experts in the field and attended poster sessions to learn more about stem cell and regenerative medicine research, translation and commercialisation.

In November students also attended the SULSA Industry-Academia Conference 2023 in Edinburgh which focused on industry engagement, for both collaborative R&D and employability.
