2003 - Duncan MacLaren

Duncan MacLaren is Head of International Relations for Caritas Internationalis, probably the largest international aid and development agency in the world.

In 1983 Duncan MacLaren went to work for SCIAF, The Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund, the aid and development arm of the Roman Catholic Church in Scotland.

It was while he was serving as Executive Director at SCIAF that he came to the University of Edinburgh as a part-time student to take a Masters degree in Theology and Development. He was head-hunted by Caritas Internationalis, three years after the completion of his Masters degree. His position with the agency is an apt expression of his global concerns, and in particular his passionate involvement in issues of poverty, oppression and injustice around the world.
