BAFTA success for philosophy graduate
The award for best single drama, at the BAFTA Television Awards 2014, was awarded to Kevin Toolis’ powerful Channel 4 MI5 spy thriller, Complicit.
Produced by Kevin’s film production company Many Rivers Films, Complicit explores the murky world of intelligence agencies and their complicity in torture in the post 9/11 world.
Tapping into topical fears
Wriiten by Guy Hibbert and starring David Oyelowo and Arsher Ali, Complicit is a dark and thought-provoking look at the war on terror
and was shown on Channel 4 in the UK early last year.
I am proud of winning the BAFTA for our film Complicit and proud too of the time I spent at Edinburgh. All those lectures on David Hume were not in vain.
Complicit can be viewed on Channel 4’s 4oD catch-up platform by following the link below. Please note that the 4oD service is only available in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
From screen to stage
Kevin’s next project is the opening of his satirical play ‘The Confessions of Gordon Brown’ at London’s Ambassadors Theatre in June.
You can read more about the play on the Alumni Services website.
