Dr Petros Bouras-Vallianatos awarded Estes Prize
The School was delighted to learn that Dr Petros Bouras-Vallianatos, Wellcome Lecturer in History of Medicine, has won the J. Worth Estes Prize 2022.
The American Association for the History of Medicine awards the J. Worth Estes Prize annually for the best published paper in the history of pharmacology during the previous two years, whether appearing in a journal or a book collection of papers. The 2022 Prize has been awarded to Dr Petros Bouras-Vallianatos, Wellcome Lecturer in History of Medicine, for his article 'Cross-cultural Transfer of Medical Knowledge in the Medieval Mediterranean: The Introduction and Dissemination of Sugar-based Potions from the Islamic World to Byzantium' (Speculum 96.4 (2021): 963-1008).
