Jazz On The Park Festival is a brand new music and arts festival taking place on Weston Park in Sheffield City Centre.

The festival will take place over three stages - The Bandstand, Mondo Radio Stage and Calabash Corner, showcasing live acts and DJs from all over the UK. As well as this, the festival will have a range of A/V Installations, some of the best food traders in the North, a range of pop-up shops and traders and even a roller-disco. Organisers will also be running an after party at SADACCA Sheffield by Apricot Ballroom & Mondo Radio.

This festival - organised by Dave and Nikki - is in aid of Low Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer Research. One of the festival organisers was diagnosed at 26 years old, and she wants to try and raise awareness and money for this area of cancer research.

Weston Park is a public park with an area of just over five hectares in the City of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England.

Low Grade Serous Ovarian Cancer

Ovarian cancer is the sixth most common cause of female cancer death in the UK. Until recently it has been treated as a single disease entity. There is now considerable evidence to demonstrate that ovarian cancers differ in their tissues of origin, their genetic abnormalities, their responsiveness to chemotherapy and the ultimate outcome for patients.

Research at the University of Edinburgh

Professor Charlie Gourley is leading a team investigating the biology of this disease at the interface between the laboratory and the clinic in order to generate findings that can be directly translated into patient benefit. Prof Gourley’s team do this by characterising the molecular changes that occur in different ovarian cancers and determining how this affects their responsiveness to chemotherapy or novel biological agents.
