Easter Bush Infection Control Committee

One of our key clinical priorities is to protect our patients, visitors, staff and students from the risk of infections, including those caused by viruses, bacteria (germs) or parasites (worms).

Our Infection Control Team comprises staff from across the Easter Bush campus, including the Roslin Institute and the Equine, Farm and Small Animal Hospitals. We are guided by colleagues from our bacteriology and pathology departments, who specialise in diseases caused by infection. An important part of campus activities is to undertake research into infection control, which ensures that we are always informed by the most up-to-date evidence.

We work closely with Senior Management and staff to minimise infection risk.

All our staff are committed to protecting patients and staff. We consider a range of issues relating to infection control and concentrate on the following areas:

  • Hand hygiene
  • Environmental monitoring and cleaning
  • Antibiotic control
  • Infection surveillance
