Evan Goss

Evan Goss is a 3rd year student studying MA (Hons) Geography.

"The flexibility of the course and the option to pick from a wide range of optional modules was a massive draw for me."

My programme

"At first I struggled to narrow down my programme to geography, and so the option to pick other modules and continue my other interests made the University really attractive.

Although I really enjoy my optional modules, studying them all at the same time is a challenge. They all require different skill sets and the method of testing is different for all three. The expectation of the level of independent work is a massive change from school and something that I was not previously used to doing."

My student experience

"The range of societies offered is fantastic. There are so many options and this means there is something for everyone.

I have been able to take part in activities that I never had the chance to do at home. I have my own weekly radio show on FreshAir.org.uk which I really enjoy doing.

Edinburgh is a fantastic city and there is always something going on. The city has a wide range of amenities and a great range of nightlife too and this makes studying here really enjoyable.

The lecturers are also really approachable and make learning interesting and fun."

My future

"Studying a broad degree, especially in the first two years, I feel is preparing me for the future. It is testing me on my personal organisation and the ability to time manage.

Being able to learn Swedish has also been invaluable and a real asset for the future."
