Hou Wei Chook

Background

Hou Wei completed a dual award Integrative Biomedical Sciences undergraduate programme at the Zhejiang University-University of Edinburgh Institute in June 2022. During his undergraduate studies, he performed bioinformatic analyses on novel bacteriophage genomes, with a particular interest in evaluating the suitability of these bacteriophages for phage therapy. In September 2022, Hou Wei began his PhD at the Roslin Institute, under the supervision of Dr Eleanor Gaunt and Prof. Paul Digard. His project focusses on the identification and characterisation of species A rotavirus accessory gene products via experimental and bioinformatic means. Hou Wei is funded by the Edinburgh Doctoral College Scholarship - Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies.
