Asylum Seeker Scholarship

The University will offer 4 awards for entry into academic year 2024-2025. The award offers tuition fee and living cost support to those most in need who are seeking asylum.

For students commencing study at the University in session 2024-2025 the University will offer four undergraduate scholarships (excludes students who already hold a 1st undergraduate degree).

Each scholarship will cover the 'home' rate of fee and provide living costs per annum equivalent to the UKRI rate,  For 2024-25 the stipend rate is £19,237 .

Eligibility

To be eligible for this Scholarship you should have applied for admission to a degree programme at this University commencing in 2024-2025 and received confirmation from the Fees and Student Support Team that your fees status has been updated to home student-Scotland fee rate (Asylum Seeker)

Applying

Once you have received confirmation of your fee status, you will receive a link to complete our application form. 

During the application, process you will be required to upload the following documents:

  • You will be asked to provide a supporting statement from your legal representative or the charitable body representing your case in the UK.
  • This supporting statement should provide details of your current immigration status and an indication of timescales for the Home Office decision on your asylum claim.

Your supporting documentation must be received by the scholarship deadline or your application will not be considered.

Application Deadline

The deadline for completing the Undergraduate application of 24th May 2024

Notification Process

A panel will review all eligible applications and we hope to inform all successful candidates by early June 2024.

If your status changes

If your status changes at any point prior to or during your studies, you must notify the Fees and Student Support team immediately regarding your change in status.
