Student choir makes BBC appearance

Singers from the Edinburgh University Chamber Choir (EUCC) made an appearance on BBC 4 Radio and BBC Sounds.

A service performed by the choir, recorded at Sacred Heart Jesuit Church in Edinburgh, was broadcast as part of BBC Radio 4’s flagship Sunday Worship programme on Sunday 12 March.

The talented group consists of thirty students from across a range of academic disciplines.

Tryst Festival

EUCC attracted attention last year after their praised performance of “Who Should Separate Us”, an anthem composed by Sir James MacMillan for the funeral of her late Majesty the Queen.

Impressed with the choir’s performance, the composer invited EUCC to perform at the Cumnock Tryst Festival which will take place on Saturday 11 March in Cumnock, Ayrshire.

Sir James MacMillan will conduct EUCC to perform his funeral anthem along with two new compositions premiering at the festival.

This is the first time a University of Edinburgh student ensemble has been invited to perform at the event.

Italy Performance

In June 2023, the choir will act as musical ambassadors for the University when they travel to Florence and Sienna to perform at a number of events.
