RAAC: ensuring the safety of our University buildings

The limited impact on the University from the use of Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete panels.

You may be aware of recent media coverage of the closure or restricted access to a number of buildings across the UK, due to the presence of Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) panels. 

This has a limited impact on our University – it is important to stress that the vast majority of our Estate is unaffected by this issue and continues to operate as normal.

Impact on you

We are pleased to say that Welcome Week activities will continue as planned, so that students can make the most of the wide range of activities on offer. We hope there won’t be a need to make changes to semester-time venues or to your timetable, but should this become necessary, we will let you know as soon as possible.
