Medals all round at Commonwealth Fencing Championships
Two students recently won medals at the Commonwealth Fencing Championships in Canberra, Australia.
On Friday, Chloe Dickson won gold in the senior women’s Foil event, beating 27 fencers from across the globe. Katie Smith managed to win Bronze in the same event.
The two students had come into contact earlier on in the competition, with Chloe beating Katie in the semi-final.
Chloe and Katie also took part in the senior women’s Foil team event on Saturday, eventually taking home gold for Scotland in a final against England.
This is fantastic news and a testament to the hard work of the fencers, Head of Performance Fencing Don McKenzie and the support teams involved in the victories. Our performance programmes are world-class and I am thrilled to see this success on the international stage.
