Guidance for staff during school strike

A number of the school support unions have announced strike action in schools across Scotland from Tuesday 26 – Thursday 28 September.

Those going on strike include cleaners, caterers, janitors and school support assistants with three out of four schools in Scotland expected to close.

University staff who may be impacted should try to make childcare arrangements so they can continue to be at work as normal. If it's possible, working from home should be considered where alternative arrangements can't be made. If you are unable to work from home because your role can only be performed on campus, and you have no alternative care options for your child or children, you should use your annual leave allowance or there is an Emergency Time Off for Dependents Policy that can be used.

Please discuss this with your line manager at the earliest opportunity so that arrangements can be put in place to support you.

Should the strike action be called off or change,  this advice will be updated as required.
