Christmas lights to illuminate Old College Quad

Students and staff are invited to the University’s annual Christmas tree lighting.

The event will take place on Monday 20th November from 4:45 pm and will mark the beginning of the University’s festive season.

The Christmas lights for the eight-metre tall fir tree will be switched on at 5:30pm by Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Peter Mathieson.

During the event, guests will receive complimentary mulled wine and mince pies.

Singing and music will be performed by the University Choir and Edinburgh’s Salvation Army band.

The event is free and open to all members of the University of Edinburgh community. Tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis and must be booked in advance.
