The EIE Investor Readiness Programme has been selected to put forward nominees for The Earthshot Prize – founded by HRH Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and Sir David Attenborough.

Innovation prize

Since launching in 2020, The Earthshot Prize has undergone an unprecedented global search for innovative, impactful solutions to the greatest environmental challenges facing our planet.

The Prize aims to accelerate and support the innovative work of people, organisations, movements and governments and develop their impact at a global level.

Nominations

The University is one of more than 300 organisations from across the world invited to submit nominations across all five Earthshot categories – Nature, Air, Oceans, Waste-Free World and Climate.

This presents Bayes’ EIE Programme with a unique opportunity to select current and former entrepreneurs on the programme as nominees for the £1 million top prize in each category.

EIE Programme

The University’s EIE Programme, based at The Bayes Centre, is the UK’s largest investor readiness programme of its kind outside London.

Since 2008, it has supported more than 500 tech start-up and scale-up companies, which have raised more than $1.5 billion in investment, from seed through to later stage funding.

Winners

Similar to other established international prizes, by using nominators, The Earthshot Prize taps into a global network of knowledge and experience.

The first-ever winners were revealed at an Awards Ceremony in October 2021, watched by millions of people around the world.

Karen Wood, Director of Enterprise EIE at the Bayes Centre, was so inspired by the coverage that she decided to put the University forward as a Nominator, which ultimately proved successful. She said:

We are greatly inspired to support our shared mission with The Earthshot Prize and search our global EIE Talent Pipeline, Alumni Community and Tech Ecosystem for impactful innovation and investment opportunities, to make the world a better place and Save our Planet.

We are delighted to be an Earthshot Prize 2022 Official Nominator. The Bayes Centre look forward to contributing to what will be a world class Talent Pipeline that flows two ways between our EIE Investor Readiness Programme and Earthshot.
