Carol service to take place online

The University’s annual Christmas celebration of songs and music will take place virtually this year.

Singers

Covid restrictions have forced the cancellation of the normal event which is attended by hundreds of people, however a special film featuring a range of performances will instead be available.

Carols will be sung by the Edinburgh University Singers, official choir of the University, conducted by Calum Robertson. Organ music will be provided by University organist John Kitchen.

Readings will come from four students and the Principal, Professor Peter Mathieson. The University Chaplain, Revd Dr Harriet Harris, will deliver a welcome with reflections on Christmas 2020, as well as the closing Benediction.

We invite you to enjoy the film and hope you have a merry Christmas.

Charity donations

Whilst an in-person collection for charity will not be taking place, anyone wishing to give money can still do so. This year’s nominated charity is Save the Children, which can be donated to here.
