About the event

Join us for this year’s German Play at the University of Edinburgh. A modern retelling of the classic tale, students of the German section and beyond are proud to bring “Alice im Anderland” (by Stefan Altherr) to life on stage. The play has been adapted and directed by Maude Casey and Jolie Chen.

Alice im Anderland is set years after the original Alice in Wonderland story and features a traumatised Alice as a patient in a mental institution. In this retelling, Carroll's well-known characters appear as distorted images. This performance examines topics such as addiction, war trauma, infanticide, and paranoia, and how society deals with them.

Enjoy an evening of theatre performed in German, with English subtitles so everyone can come along!
