Award success for History student *INCLUDE*

History MSc student, Stuart Clark, has won a prestigious award in an annual undergraduate dissertation competition. (Published 9 February 2015)

Stuart Clark, a former undergraduate student who is now studying for an MSc by Research in History at the School, has been awarded the top prize in the History of Parliament annual undergraduate dissertation competition 2014.

Stuart’s dissertation, ‘An Old Tory Dodge or a Large and Liberal Project of Practical Benevolence? The Congested Districts Board, Politics and Press in Ireland, 1890-1914’, was nominated by the History Board of Examiners for this national competition.

The supervisor of the dissertation, Dr Enda Delaney, paid tribute to the ‘originality of the research on a complex topic as well as Stuart’s capacity to produce a work of such scholarly quality’.

The prize will be presented to Stuart at an event in the House of Lords in March 2015.

History of Parliament

Entries to this prestigious competition must be on a subject relating to British or Irish parliamentary or political history before 1979 and are judged by a team of internationally distinguished historians.
