Intensive and longer courses

We offer various intensive, one-week courses and longer courses running throughout a term or the full academic year to advance individuals' professional learning in a variety of areas.

Returning to teaching course

This is a blended online course aimed at teachers who have been out of the profession for a while or have graduated abroad and would like to get back into a teaching job in Scotland. Our next course begins in March 2020.

Froebel and childhood practice course

This course is designed for professionals working in early education wanting to learn about Froebelian methods and improve their practice.

Inclusive digital technology course

In this unique and innovative course, participants will learn about the developments and arguments surrounding assistive technologies and pedagogy for pupils with additional support needs. Teaching is delivered over 10 weeks through a combination of face-to-face workshops and online learning.

Community engagement: co-constructing knowledge with communities

This is an online course, with ten weeks of a taught online programme, from 14th January to 31st March 2020. There will be synchronous online sessions held on Tuesdays at 7pm GMT, as well as independent work on the virtual learning environment.

Teachers as agents of change

The course runs from September to November and explores the meaning and practical implications of teachers’ acting as agents of change through ten flexible online and face-to-face sessions at Moray House.

Collaborative working in children's services

This course explores theoretical and policy principles as well as practical processes that underpin effective collaboration between children’s services in education, health and beyond. Participation is flexible and includes a combination of face-to-face sessions at the Moray House School of Education and Sport and online engagement using our online learning platform.

Making connections through learning for sustainability : facilitated online CLPL for teachers

Aligned with Scotland’s education priorities and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, this professional learning supports teachers to develop the confidence to plan for, and implement Learning for Sustainability, making connections at individual, school and global levels, and inspiring students to collaborate on the issues that shape our world.
