2017 entry

After you've accepted your offer

We send welcome information to most applicants during the summer.

The welcome information we send you will include a formal letter of admission to the University and information about Welcome Week. It also tells you how to pay your fees and register as a student at Edinburgh.

Before we send welcome information, we must have received copies of your educational certificates and your offer must be, or have become, Unconditional Firm (UF).

Deferred entry students

If you have applied for deferred entry and you meet the conditions of your offer, we will send you a letter confirming reservation of your place.

Providing that we have received copies of your educational certificates, we will send welcome information in the spring of the following year.

International students

If you are an international applicant, we will support your application for a Tier 4 visa.

We will send further information and guidance to all unconditional firm offer holders. Please note that we will not begin to issue Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) for use in a Tier 4 visa application until June in the year you are due to start your programme (except for those with an earlier start date).

Members of staff from the International Student Advice Service will contact you after your CAS has been issued to provide full instructions on how to apply for the visa.

Protecting Vulnerable Groups  Scheme

Some degree programmes require a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme criminal conviction check. If your programme requires this, you will be contacted in the summer prior to your programme starting with an information pack and guidance notes on how to apply.
