Graeme Randall MBE

2009 Inductee

Graeme Randall graduated in 2001 with a BEd in Physical Education. Graeme’s illustrious judo career saw him winning a host of European, Commonwealth and World titles, as well as competing in two Olympic Games.

A black belt by the age of 15, he was European Junior champion in 1994 and won a bronze medal at the Junior World Championships in the same year.

Graeme has competed for Scotland more than 100 times and represented Great Britain at the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games, and the 1997, 1999 and 2001 World Championships.

In 1999 he became Scotland’s first ever judo world champion, when we won gold at the World Championships in Birmingham. In so doing, he became only the second British male to hold a world title in judo. Also in 1999, he won a bronze medal at the European Championships in Bratislava.

In 2002, he won a memorable and widely celebrated gold medal for Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in Manchester.

Awarded the prestigious 6th Dan from British Judo for his competitive record, he was bestowed with an MBE in 2003 for his services to judo.
