Biography
I was an undergraduate and graduate student at Jesus College, Cambridge, and spent a year at Harvard as a Frank Knox Memorial Fellow. After holding a Research Fellowship at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, I was appointed to a Lectureship in Economic and Social History at the University of Edinburgh in 1994. I was promoted to Reader in 2004.
