The Cycle Friendly Employer Award scheme was set up by Cycling Scotland to provide national recognition for organisations whose workplaces support cycling.

Credit for staff initiatives

The University already holds the accreditation for the King’s Buildings campus.

Cycling Scotland representatives assessed the cycling infrastructure, cycling initiatives and the promotion of cycling at the University’s Central Area.

Recognition was given to the staff cycle-to-work scheme ‘Bicycles+’, secure parking facilities, route-planning information, cycle training, Doctor Bike sessions, bike maintenance classes, shower facilities and the widespread promotion of cycling.

Providing more cycling facilities has supported increasing numbers of staff and students to cycle. Further improvements are in the pipeline, including more secure cycle storage and training.
