Erasmus +

Information for students planning to study at the University of Edinburgh through Erasmus+ in 2021/22.

(Updated 14 April 2021)

The University of Edinburgh is continuing to participate in the current Erasmus+ programme until the end of our 2020 project, which has been extended until 31 May 2023. The UK will not participate in the new 2021-27 Erasmus programme and has launched an alternative mobility scheme, named the Turing scheme. However the launch of the new scheme will not impact on the UK’s participation in the current Erasmus+ programme.

This means that the University of Edinburgh will continue to receive exchange students under the current Erasmus+ programme during the 2021/22 and 2022/23 academic years, as long as the students’ home university has also been granted an extension to their 2020 project.

Students planning to undertake an Erasmus+ study placement at the University of Edinburgh are able to proceed with their placement and apply for Erasmus+ funding from their home institution, as long as their home institution and home country National Agency are willing to support the mobility.  Please check with your home institution before making any commitments.

We are working closely with our European partner institutions to ensure that exchange opportunities will continue to be available beyond 2023. The University of Edinburgh is committed to continuing our strong relationship with our European partners, carrying on a long-standing tradition of exchanging students and staff with institutions world-wide.
