ECAT SUSTAIN meeting, October 2017

On 9 & 10 October 2017, ECAT ran its first SUSTAIN event which was based on the Academy of Medical Science’s (AMS) successful SUSTAIN programme for women in the early stages of their research career.  This  innovative programme of training and support aims to develop participants’ leadership and career potential.  The two-day ECAT event was held at Edinburgh’s G&V Hotel and was open by invitation to both men and women who were either in the last year of their ECAT PhD or in the early stages of their ECAT postdoctoral clinical lectureship.

Speakers included Peter Bishop (PBP Life Coaching), Simon Cain (Westbourne Training & Consulting), Sarah Shinton (Institute for Academic Decelopment, The University of Edinburgh), Susan Shenkin (Geriatric Medicine, The University of Edinburgh), Kenny Baillie (The Roslin Institute), and Jen Middleton (Press Office, The University of Edinburgh).

ECAT Away Day, May 2017

The annual ECAT Away Day was held on Wednesday 31 May in the Kirkland Room, South Hall, Pollock Halls campus.  The day was, as usual, a brilliant success with excellent presentations from everyone.  We were delighted that some of the new cohort who will start their ECAT journey in August were able to join us for the day.  The sun shone for the BBQ at the end of the day, when everyone was able to relax, chat and enjoy a few drinks in the sunshine.
