European Union Postgraduate Entry Requirements

Postgraduate entry requirements for students from Germany.

The University of Edinburgh welcomes applications from well qualified students from Germany. Students must have the equivalent of a very good UK Bachelor degree in order to be considered for direct admission to postgraduate study at the University of Edinburgh.

For entry to most Postgraduate Taught programmes, the minimum requirement is a Bachelor's degree/Diplom/Magister Artium/Diplom (FH), from an accredited higher education institution with a minimum average grade of 2.5 or better.

For those applying for Law, the Erste Juristische Staatsprufung is required with a final overall grade of 8.

For entry to Postgraduate Research degrees, the minimum requirement is the Magister Artium/Diplom or Master's degree (1999 onwards).

However, each application is considered individually as the personal statement is also an important part of the application. Where relevant, work experience may also be considered.
