Alison Ramsay MBE

Alison Ramsay is one of the UK’s most capped and successful Hockey players.

It was not until she came to University, where she studied Law, that Alison began playing hockey seriously but she went on to captain the Edinburgh, Scottish and British Universities teams.

She won her first senior cap for Scotland in 1982 and competed in two World Cups, four European Cups and countless international tournaments and tests, amassing a remarkable 150 appearances for her country.

In 1985 she was selected for Great Britain and Northern Ireland team, which took her to two Olympics ~ Seoul in 1988 and Barcelona in 1992. The last of her 107 GB caps was in the third-fourth play-off match in Barcelona where the British team exceeded all expectations to win Bronze.

In all, and in addition to her Olympic medal, Alison won more than 250 international caps, and was awarded an MBE in 2001 for her services to Hockey.
