#WhyLabResearchMatters campaign launched

23 April 2021

In celebration of World Laboratory Day 2021, the Centre for Regenerative Medicine is launching the #WhyLabResearchMatters campaign.

The aim of the campaign is to recognise the importance of laboratory based medical research. This is research taking place at lab benches, which has not yet reached the clinical trial stage where treatments are tested on patients.

Laboratory research is however the vital basis of scientific discovery and the first, crucial stage in the treatment development process. It is only by building an understanding of the fundamentals of how the human body works that we can in the longer term have an impact on society and human health.

The campaign aims to raise awareness of lab-based research and share stories of why it is important and what it means to different people, including patients, caregivers, charities and scientists.

Over the coming weeks and months, we will be sharing videos and stories on social media using the hashtag #WhyLabResearchMatters.

Follow us on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn to join in the conversation and share your own views on why lab research matters.
