The Scottish Society of Cytomics was formed with the intention of providing information related to the art of cytometry (flow and imaging) including its cross technology applications to genomics, proteomics, in vivo imaging and other core related areas between the research organizations in Scotland and Northern England.
- flowcytometryUK was formed in June 2006 to promote the interaction between all users of flow and imaging cytometry within the UK. Regional meetings are held to foster interaction between users and promote new applications and techniques.

- To promote research, development, and applications in analytical cytometry. Analytical cytometry is broadly defined as the characterization and measurement of cells and cellular constituents for biological, diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. It embraces components of cytochemistry, cytophysics, anatomy, biology, physiology, pathology, image analysis, instrumentation, clinical laboratory practice and other subjects of relevance.
- To facilitate integration of the many disciplines within analytical cytometry.
- To disseminate knowledge of analytical cytometry.
- To provide information and advice on those aspects of public policy which are concerned with analytical cytometry.
Upcoming Flow Cytometry Meetings
FlowCytometryUK 2025, 26th to 28th March, Newcastle (rms.org.uk)
This meeting will consist of themed plenary sessions with talks from invited speakers. There will also be parallel scientific workshops organised by members of the cytometry community and parallel commercial workshops. There will be a large exhibition and the opportunity to network with flow and image cytometrists from all over Europe and beyond. The meeting will highlight advances in flow and image instrumentation, high content screening, cancer and stem cell biology, applications of clinical cytometry and the development of novel probes and approaches in many areas of biomedical research.
CYTO 2024 will be a premier, inclusive, and international conference on the many facets of cytometry science and engineering.
Flow Cytometry Courses
This course is aimed at both clinical applications and applications in cell biology, with the common fundamentals covered on Day 1 and 2. The course then splits into clinical applications and applications in cell biology streams, from practical demonstrations to lectures highlighting not just the applications, but best practise as well.
The course is constructed as a set of three modules. You can elect to attend the Course from between two to five days, depending on the modules selected.
The modules consist of lectures interspersed with sessions in the laboratory. It is anticipated that instruments from three manufacturers will be available for practical work.
