Campus Operating Officer

Background

Val Hughes-White is the Campus Operating Officer leading and developing the Easter Bush Campus operations, alongside the Roslin Institute operation and support teams. The aim is deliver a “Beacon of Good Practice” across all professional services on campus,  while providing a responsive, compliant, efficient and effective service delivery. A member of the senior management team, she has had a central role in the Easter Bush Campus development over the past 8 years.  Val is  responsible for fundraising, business planning, risk management and delivery of services across a wide variety of projects (both building development and operational) which arise from strategic decisions made by Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies and The Roslin Institute.

An experienced change manager, Val has worked in Higher Education for over 25 years (Dundee, Oxford, Reading and Edinburgh) and has extensive experience across a wide range of roles across the sector, predominately in research intensive and/or clinical environments.

As an active member of AUA, she was Convenor for many years of the  AUA “Managing Change” Special Interest Group; this is actively involved with developing best practice guides for HEI’s on change management, coordinating workshops and contributing to public policy papers.  Val mentors students on the Postgraduate Certificate for Higher Education Management (run by the AUA and Nottingham Trent University),  as well as being a mentor within the University of Edinburgh’s Mentoring Connections Scheme.
