PhD Student

Background

I am currently a Ph.D. student in the Royal (dick) school of veterinary studies and based at Monogastric Research center, SRUC, Roslin Institute. After my graduation from the faculty of veterinary medicine, Mansoura University, Egypt in 2012. I become a research assistant in Nutrition and Nutritional Deficiency Diseases department where I have pursued my master's degree in Animal, Poultry, fish Nutrition and Deficiency Diseases. I have developed a strong interest in poultry nutrition that enabled me to look forward to starting my Ph.D. at Edinburgh University and SRUC in October 2017.

 

Research interests are: Poultry nutrition, feed formulation, microbiological techniques, and molecular analysis

 

Teaching: before I started my Ph.D., I was a teaching assistant in the faculty of veterinary medicine, Mansoura University, Egypt. My teaching activities were:

  • Lecturing on and demonstrate for Food safety and hygiene credit hour system and 3rd-year undergraduate students.
  • Teaching practical animal feeding and ration formulation for different species.
  • Assisting students in everyday laboratory routines.

My Principle supervisor is: Prof Jos Houdijk (Professor of Animal Nutrition and Health, Monogastric Science Research Centre, SRUC) and my UoE supervisor is: Prof Lonneke VERVELDE (Personal Chair of Veterinary Immunology &Infectious Diseases).
