Thesis title: Policy as a Driver of Cropping Patterns in India: Implications for Crop Diversification

Background

Prior to joining the Global Academy of Agriculture and Food Security, Divya worked as a Research Associate at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She has also previously worked at the Centre for Sustainable Agriculture in Hyderabad. Divya has a Bachelor of Science in Business and Development Studies from Ohio State University (USA). Her research to date has focused on challenges to adoption of sustainable agricultural practices in the Indian context – particularly the reduced use of agrochemicals, reduction of crop residue burning, and the political adoption of natural farming in the state of Andhra Pradesh. She is also currently working with the Poshan Abhiyan project of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, India, to create a national agri-food atlas, with support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
