Lecturer in Anaesthesia

Background

Barbara graduated from the University of Milan, School of Veterinary Medicine, in 2000. At the beginning of her career she worked in equine medicine, before graduation and for two years after graduation, at the University of Milan, with a special focus on gastric ulcers in race horses and radiographic changes during EIPH.

Since then, Barbara had been working in small animal practice for fifteen years as a first opinion vet, with main duties and responsibilities in internal medicine, anaesthesia, emergency and critical care medicine and inpatients management, before moving to the UK in 2016.

In 2017, Barbara completed an Internship in Small Animal Anaesthesia and Analgesia at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies, where she is currently working as Junior Veterinary Anaesthetist.

Her major interests are related to appropriate clinical application of fluid therapy, accurate interpretation of arterial blood gas analysis, transfusion medicine, hypotension management during anaesthesia and loco-regional anaesthesia and analgesia.
