Background

Alex received her BVSc from the University of Liverpool in 2008. During her veterinary studies she developed an interest in pathology and undertook an intercalated degree in Veterinary Pathology at the Royal Veterinary College. Following graduation she worked in practice for 2 years, first in mixed practice in the UK and then specialist equine practice in Australia, before returning to the University of Liverpool to begin a pathology residency. She became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Pathologists in 2014 and subsequently moved to the University of Zurich, undertaking a PhD focussed on the host immune response to feline infectious peritonitis in parallel to working as a diagnostic pathologist. During this time she also developed some of her other areas of interest through collaborative projects, including in cardiology and oncology. She joined the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in 2019 as a Lecturer in Veterinary Pathology.
