Background
My name is Anke (Änki) Lingscheid and I am a PhD student and Tutor here at the University of Edinburgh.
In my PhD I mainly research in how far written picture descriptions could be used to diagnose neurodegenerative diseases more efficiently. My project comprises mainly of the history of aphasia diagnostic using picture description tasks, differences between spoken and written language, differences of handwritten and typed language and differences in picture perceptionon on the basis of cultural differences.
Evidence based health care is my passion.
I came to the University of Edinburgh after I finished my BSc in Logopedie (Speech and Language Therapy) in Heerlen, Netherlands. During my studies in Netherlands I developed a number of prevention and diagnostic programmes focussing on healthy voice in professions with high voice demands. While i started studying my MSc in Psychology of Language I persued this path further and started a pilot study for my PhD project with the aim to improve the diagnostic process of neurodegenrative diseases for both, the patient and the diagnostician.
