Every one of us will, in our lifetime, come into contact with a family member or friend who has cancer. Bowel cancer affects men and women equally, and is the third most common type of cancer in men and the second most common in women. One in 20 people in the UK develops bowel cancer, and 40,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with it.
The Edinburgh & SE Scotland Branch of the British Science Association has teamed up with Cancer Research UK to bring together a panel of local experts to discuss this topic in the informal setting of the Voodoo Rooms in Edinburgh.
