Severe weather warning: update on University reopening

A Met Office red weather warning is still in place for Edinburgh until 5pm today (Friday 24 January), so please exercise caution and avoid travel if possible. We expect that all teaching will continue as normal on Monday 27 January.

From Monday, we anticipate that all buildings across our campuses will be open and that all student services will operate as normal. This will, of course, depend on any possible damage to buildings or further disruption, which we are monitoring over the coming days.

Please make sure to check before you travel to campus and plan your journey in case of any disruption. Police Scotland has issued the following travel advice:

Library opening times

The Main Library and Law Library are due to open at 10am on Saturday 25 January. The ECA Library, New College Library and King's Buildings Murray Library are expected to open at 12:30pm that day.

The Study Hub at 40 George Square will remain closed until Monday at 9am.

These are our intended re-opening plans, but please note that these are subject to satisfactory inspection for any storm damage.

Please check the Library webpage for updated opening times before you travel:

Student support

Support is still available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for students who need it. Students can contact our Security Team on 0131 650 2257. The Residence Life Team will continue to support students staying in University-managed accommodation.
