Update on Covid-19 cases

Professor Colm Harmon, Vice-Principal Students, has emailed students with an update on Covid-19 cases at Pollock Halls of Residence.

Dear student,

In response to the Scottish Government guidance issued to students earlier this week, I am contacting all students to update you on the latest developments this weekend.

There has been a small number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 linked to The University of Edinburgh Pollock Halls student accommodation, all of whom are self-isolating. We are working with NHS Lothian’s Health Protection team to ensure that these students, and those around them, are provided with the information and support they need.

A letter from NHS Lothian is being issued today to all occupants of Pollock Halls, in line with NHS Lothian protocols, giving relevant information and advice.

In agreement with NHS Lothian’s Health Protection Team and partners, we are not asking for whole Halls of student accommodation to self-isolate. We are asking students who have attended parties recently to be vigilant regarding any Covid-19 symptoms and for all students to follow guidance as appropriate.

And please can I repeat my plea to you all to follow our guidelines so we all play our part in keeping our community safe.

We are continuing to monitor the situation, keeping our students and staff informed as appropriate, and following all Scottish Government guidance.

We are providing care and support - including mental health support - to those self-isolating both in University-owned and private accommodation.

Ongoing information and support continues to be updated on our Covid-19 pages:
