Student dancers to celebrate Diwali
Members of the University’s Bhangra Crew dance group will add a splash of colour to the city of Edinburgh’s annual Diwali festival.
Often known as the festival of lights, Diwali is an important annual event for Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists.
This year Edinburgh will stage a parade and firework display in Princes Street Gardens, on Saturday 3 December.
Worshipers believe that Diwali signifies the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance and hope over despair.

The University has established a wide range of partnerships and projects with people across South Asia.
In India, researchers are working closely with colleagues in a diverse array of fields. These include protecting wildlife, improving livestock husbandry techniques, developing solar power technology and stem cell research.
Students from India, Singapore, Malaysia and other countries in the region form an increasingly important part of the University’s community.
The University’s South Asia Office, located in Mumbai, develops and maintains links with a wide range of stakeholders. Among them are partner universities, government agencies, research institutions, industry and alumni.
