Awards to recognise outstanding teaching

Students are being encouraged to recognise outstanding academics, tutors and support staff in Edinburgh University Students’ Association’s annual Teaching Awards.

The awards – the first of their kind in the UK – celebrate the best contributions to the student experience made by teaching and support staff at Edinburgh.

Nominations close on Friday 16 February.

Excellent teachers

The awards provide an opportunity for students to thank the teachers who have had the biggest impact on them. These can include teachers, research and dissertation supervisors, student tutors, personal tutors and support staff. 

There are nine Teaching Award categories. These are:

Student nominations

In this video, University lecturers read aloud nominations about themselves submitted by their students.

The staff featured are Chris Harding (Lecturer in Asian History, School of History),  Farah Huzair (Lecturer in Science Technology and Innovation Studies, School of Social and Political Science) and Iain Murray (Reader in Machine Learning, School of Informatics).
