Initiatives include improved teaching facilities and enhanced services to support their wellbeing.
The investments are being made to provide a world-class experience at Edinburgh.
Easy access
Our lecture recording system Media Hopper Replay is now live in more than 100 teaching spaces. It gives students access to recordings for study and revision purposes.
The service will be rolled out across all 400 general teaching spaces over the next three years.
Students are also set to benefit from focussed mid-course feedback activities across all levels for the first time this academic year. These will complement our existing end-of-year Course Enhancement Questionnaires.
Better facilities
Over the past two years, £3.65 million has been spent upgrading and refurbishing nearly 100 teaching spaces.
The Main Library is now open 24/7 and more than 350 new study spaces have been created.
The first phase of the new centrally bookable Lister Learning & Teaching Centre will provide 16 additional teaching rooms. Further rooms will open in 2018.
Improved quality
Investments have also been made to improve the range and quality of student accommodation.
New residences at O’Shea Hall have scooped UK awards. Some accommodation prices have been reduced to help make studying at Edinburgh more affordable for all.
Major improvements at 48A – 60 The Pleasance will provide a range of flexible, multi-use spaces for student societies and social use.
Appleton Tower has been transformed to provide a welcoming teaching and learning environment.
Greater support
The Student Mental Health Strategy has been launched to improve support for students and promote initiatives around health and wellbeing.
A new counselling centre has opened at Moray House Lodge. A further £140,000 investment has been committed to student counselling services between 2016 and 2018.
The University's number one priority is providing a world-class experience for our students, so we're listening to what students are saying and taking action, investing more than ever to improve spaces for teaching, living and socialising while giving increased support around wellbeing.
