Complete the Race Equality Survey

As part of its on-going commitment to race equality the University has launched a survey for staff and students.

This is being undertaken to gather valuable insights from the University community to inform what actions should be taken to address racial inequality and further promote equality at the University.

It forms part of the University’s participation in a UK-wide trial of Equality Challenge Unit's (ECU) race equality charter mark.

The survey is open to all staff and students and the findings will help to inform a race equality action plan, which will be submitted to ECU in April 2015.

Informed actions

The survey will be followed by an invitation to participate in focus groups to any staff and students who self-identify in the survey as having a minority ethnic background and who voluntarily provide their contact details.

The purpose of the focus groups is to gain further feedback from those individuals about how the University's commitment to equality and diversity translates into lived experience.

As a result, members of the University community who identify as having a minority ethnic background are particularly encouraged to take part in the survey.

It’s important that we not only take action to address inequality but ensure that these actions are being informed by the experiences of staff and students.
