LLC relocation: update

Staff and students within the School of Literatures, Languages & Cultures are in the process of relocating to the recently renovated teaching and learning space at 50 George Square.

The move will take place from 16 to 27 June. Regular services will be in operation but colleagues are advised there may be slight delays in communication response times in the short term.

The refurbishment project has provided a hub for School support staff and the departments of Asian Studies, Celtic & Scottish Studies, English Literature and European Languages & Cultures, along with the Graduate School (including Film Studies and Translation Studies).

The Department of Islamic & Middle Eastern Studies will remain at 19 George Square.

Cross-collaboration

The 50 George Square refurbishment project was managed by the award-winning Page\Park Architects, who redesigned the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.

The new space has created greater opportunities for information sharing and inter-disciplinary collaboration, both across the School and externally.

Enhancements include:

  • a new 250-seat lecture theatre
  • multipurpose common rooms with screening facilities
  • an undergraduate resource centre
  • dedicated postgraduate suites
  • staff and student social areas.

All areas have full disabled access.
