Got an idea that could change the way we live?

Share your innovative ideas at the Falling Walls Lab in Edinburgh, and win a trip to Berlin.

Twenty young academics, entrepreneurs and professionals will have the opportunity to participate in Edinburgh’s Falling Walls Lab on 29 July 2014, and one person will get the chance to attend the Lab Finale and international Falling Walls Conference in Berlin in November.

Falling Walls Labs are international high profile events which aim to build connections between young researchers and representatives from academia, business and policy - and discover ideas which could have a significant positive impact on society.

Who can enter?

Masters students, PhD candidates, post-docs, young professionals, scientists or entrepreneurs are invited to apply. Lab events are designed to support young innovators, so you must be under 35 to apply.

What is involved?

Apply online on the Falling Walls website for the chance to present at the Edinburgh Lab in July Presenters will be given just three minutes to pitch their idea to a jury of experts from academia, research and business.

Your idea could be a:

  • Research project
  • Business plan
  • Social or entrepreneurial initiative

It must be relevant to society today and you must be able to demonstrate how it can have a positive impact.

The prize

  • A trip to Berlin on 8-9 November 2014 (travel costs and accommodation are covered)
  • Entry into the Lab Finale in Berlin on 8 November 2014 A ticket for the international Falling Walls Conference on 9 November 2014 where some of the world’s most prominent scientists from around the world present their current breakthrough research in 15 minutes each.
