The University has recently implemented a new Code of Student Conduct, which replaces previous regulations on student discipline.

The new code focuses on good conduct and expectations of student behaviour, rather than the disciplinary element. It also highlights what you, as a student, can expect from the University.

Updated sections in the code include taking into account offences based on equalities legislation. As well as this, misconduct in research and causing the University to breach a statutory obligation - such as by falsifying personal information - are recognised.

The roles of staff involved have been updated and clarified, with a separation of the investigation and disciplinary roles. Significant judgements can no longer be made by an individual member of staff.

There are also new guidelines on how these regulations relate to the law, allowing the university to take further action where appropriate.

For more information, please see both the Code of Student Conduct and the accompanying guidance.
