Professor Catherine Bovill has received a National Teaching Fellowship in recognition of her outstanding work in the field of learning, teaching and curriculum co-creation.

Professor Bovill is Professor of Student Engagement in Higher Education, based in the Institute for Academic Development which provides University level support for teaching, learning and researcher development.

The National Teaching Fellowship Scheme, which is administered by Advance HE, celebrates and recognises individuals who have made an outstanding impact on student outcomes and the teaching profession in Higher Education.

Professor Bovill leads the Institute for Academic Development Programme and Course Design team and is a leader in co-created curriculum and student-staff partnerships in learning and teaching. She established and has led the University’s Learning and Teaching Conference. She also leads the University’s Student Partnership Agreement and associated Funding Scheme and is co-chair of the Curriculum Transformation Programme Student Engagement Strategy Group.

The National Teaching Fellowship Scheme is open to all Higher Education providers across the four nations of the UK, who are Advance HE members, including Further Education colleges and independent alternative providers.

To receive a National Teaching Fellowship individuals must demonstrate evidence of enhancing and transforming student outcomes and/or the teaching profession, showing impact. They must raise the profile of excellence, supporting colleagues and influencing support for student learning and/or the teaching profession, and demonstrate impact and engagement beyond their own immediate academic or professional role. They must also exhibit commitment to, and the impact of, ongoing professional development with regard to teaching and learning and/or learning support.

Professor Bovill is now a member of the Association of National Teaching Fellows and will have the opportunity to meet and collaborate with other Fellows to further their impact, individually and collectively.
