The Doctoral College was founded in January 2020 by the University Executive. Its key role is to coordinate doctoral education in a horizontal fashion across the University, in order to facilitate communication of opportunities, training and support, sharing of best practice, and to inform policy making as well as supporting quality assurance and enhancement.
It reports to the Senate Education Committee and Research Policy Group.
New webpages
The Doctoral College have now launched their webpages where postgraduate research students can find all of the relevant information, support and resources. These webpages will also be useful for staff who are research supervisors, in support roles etc.
One year of the Doctoral College
Over the past year, the Doctoral College has developed an active team of staff from across the Colleges, Schools, Deaneries and services who are involved in PGR matters.
This team holds a bi-monthly forum to discuss PGR relevant topics. Key work areas include:
- PGR experience and development
- PGR administration, including regulations and policy
- PGR wellbeing
- PGR communities, including Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and widening participation
- PGR recruitment and finance, including scholarships and funding
