Employ.ed on Campus summer internship programme now open

The Employ.ed on Campus internship programme, ran by the University’s Careers Service, is now open for registrations of interest from staff.

Over the past eight years, departments and schools across the University have been hiring summer interns through the Employ.ed on Campus programme.

It is a great opportunity to support a student, alongside developing project work, gaining a student perspective, and bringing fresh energy and new ideas to your team. Our students are talented and they have a diverse range of skills, experience and perspectives which previous staff participants tell us has really benefitted their teams. All interns from last summer also felt that their employment prospects are better as a result of their internship.

The details

The programme is varied, and it aims to offer a range of internships across the University to match our diverse range of students. The Employ.ed on Campus website, listed below, contains various case studies from previous interns and managers, and provides insight into the great work they’ve done through the programme.

The Careers Service will support staff, and students, throughout the process. This includes:

  • Helping to finalise the project and job description
  • Advertising internships, shortlisting applications and supporting you with the interview process
  • Delivering an information event for intern Host Managers
  • Designing and running a development programme for interns based around an Edinburgh Award

All departments and schools are eligible to participate in the programme, and any project ideas are welcomed.

Next steps

If you are interested in taking part in the programme, you can submit your interest via the website below. All job specifications must be submitted by the 9th December.  The advertising and interview process will begin in Semester 2, and the intern would start in your department in June.
